This blog is about my experiences with Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depression, Anxiety and Mental Illness. I am writing this blog to get my story out, in hopes that it will help others. I was diagnosed in 2003 when I was hospitalized for the first time. I have been hospitalized for a total of three times. I started self-harming when I was 15, but didn’t get the help I needed until I was 19 1/2. My parents were in denial and didn’t believe in psychologists or medication. Then a teacher in my college and a close friend, helped me get the help I needed. I am forever thankful to them, for doing what they did.
Walking the road of mental illness can be a rocky journey. There are major ups and downs. It is hard to go with the flow, and can be like a horrible roller coaster. It is not a path that is chosen. Those of us who live in it, must choose to hang on with our fingertips, at times. We need others in our life, who are willing to hold us up, when we can no longer hang on. Sometimes it seems, that is all, that is getting us through.
Please walk with me on this path, whether you are someone who also walks this road, or a family member trying to understand someone else. I will share my experiences; my ups and downs. Feel free to ask questions or comment. I will do my best to respond.
Love & Peace
